IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY:

Our doctors are on call should you or your family suffer an emergency after hours.

If you are currently having a dental emergency and the office is currently closed, you may contact Dr. Verma @ (301)523-3368 or Dr. Ali @ (301)335-7850.  Please leave a message and one of our doctors will contact you as soon as possible.

**As a courtesy, we ask that our patients not contact the doctors after hours regarding scheduling issues**
COMMON DENTAL EMERGENCIES

Bitten Lip or Tongue
Clean the area gently with a cloth and apply cold compresses to reduce any swelling. If the bleeding doesn’t stop within 30 minutes, go to a hospital emergency room immediately.

Broken Tooth/Toothache
Rinse your mouth with warm water to clean the area.  If  this is a traumatic situation, contact your dentist immediately.  If the fractured tooth or toothache is a result of decay and you are developing a swelling due to a dental abscess, avoid the use of hot compresses on the area.  This will spread the infection.  To minimize swelling and increase comfort, use cold compresses and over the counter medications for pain.  Call you dentist immediately for treatment.

Jaw-Possibly Broken
If you suspect your jaw is broken, you should seek care at your local hospital's emergency room immediately.

Knocked Out Tooth
Hold the tooth by the crown and rinse off the root of the tooth in water if it’s dirty. Do not scrub it or remove any attached tissue fragments. If possible, gently insert and hold the tooth in its socket. If that isn’t possible, put the tooth in a cup of milk and get to the dentist as quickly as possible. Remember to take the tooth with you!  It is ideal to reach your dentist within an hour of this type of emergency for the best post operative results.
